Ovvadias S. Namias is the Managing Partner of Namias Law. Ovvadias concluded his thesis in Penal Law at the University of Bonn in Germany, and he lectured Penal Law at the Law School of the University of Athens as a Special Scientific Associate. Ovvadias has been a member of the Athens Bar Association since 1993.

He then received his Ph.D. in Criminal Law from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich in the field of medical negligence. He has been a member of the Athens Bar Association and the Munich Bar Association since 2011.

Despoina G. Ovvadias S. Namias, Managing Partner

Ovvadias S. Namias, is the Managing Partner of “OVVADIAS S. NAMIAS LAW FIRM”, and provides consulting services and in-court assistance in criminal cases of fraud (breach of trust, corruption), bribery, tax evasion, customs office offenses, stock exchange offences, insider trading, market abuse, legalization of profits from illegal activities (money laundering), personal data, medical negligence as well as in cases of European criminal law, extradition and mutual legal assistance.

Ovvadias has graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens in 1987 and concluded his thesis in Penal Law at the University of Bonn in Germany, with a grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (1992).

He lectured Penal Law at the Law School of the University of Athens as a Special Scientific Associate (2002-2006). Ovvadias was an Attorney at Law of the National Bank of Greece specialising in financial penal issues from 1999 to 2006.

He was awarded the Babakos Prize by the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association in 2001.

Ovvadias has been a member of the Athens Bar Association since 1993 and a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association from 2004 up to 2022. He is also the President of the General Assembly of the Jewish Community of Athens.

Vasileios K. Petropoulos, Partner

Vasileios K. Petropoulos is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the University of Athens, and he is a Partner at Ovvadias S. Namias Law Firm since 2010.

Vasileios has vast experience in cases relating to banking offences, stock exchange offences, internal corporate investigations, fraud, breach of trust, bribery, money laundering, extradition, mutual legal assistance, and corruption.

Vasileios received his legal education at the Universities of Athens (LL.B.) Munich (PhD in Criminal Law,) and Zurich (PhD in Capital Market Law), receiving a grant from the Greek state. He concluded his studies at the University of Munich (Post Doc “Habilitation”) in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, European and International Criminal Law and Financial Criminal Law.

Vasileios was an academic scholar in capital market law at the CEGLA Institute of the Buchmann Faculty of Law of the University of Tel Aviv (Spring Semester 2010). He has been lecturing at the Hellenic Open University since 2018 in the post graduate program “Forensic and Criminal aspects of corruption, of financial and organized crime” in the module “Criminal handling of corruption and organized crime”. From 2015 to 2020 he lectured Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the Neapolis University of Paphos (Cyprus). Since 2024, he has also been teaching the course “Bioethics and Criminal Law” as part of the Inter-Institutional Master’s Programme in Bioethics at the University of Crete.

Vasileios has published several monographies and numerous articles in legal journals. He has participated in several legislative committees, and he is a member of the drafting committee of the legal journal of the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association, “Nova Criminalia”. Eleni I. Tsakali, Partner

Ilias V. Spyropoulos is a Senior Associate at Ovvadias S. Namias Law Firm and has been involved in numerous cases, predominantly related to fraud, breach of trust, bribery, money laundering, extradition, medical negligence and mutual legal assistance. He is also active in the field of criminal internal investigations.

Ilias graduated from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from which he also obtained his LLM in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. He then received his Ph.D. in Criminal Law from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich in the field of medical negligence. He lectures as a Special Scientific Associate in Criminal Law at the Law Faculty of the Democritus University of Thrace.
